Houdini License Server Fix With Selinux
When setting up Houdini with the SideFX License Server on Fedora, I ran into a problem where Houdini could not check out a license. The root cause was SELinux blocking the NIS (Network Information Service) calls that the license server relies on.
There are two possible fixes:
Disable SELinux completely (not recommended).
sudo setenforce 0Enable NIS support in SELinux (better and more secure).
sudo setsebool -P nis_enabled 1
By enabling the NIS boolean, SELinux allows Houdini’s license server traffic without compromising overall system security. This is the preferred approach compared to disabling SELinux entirely.
